The 1,000 Islands region is located between the northern border of New York and the southern border of Ontario, Canada. A 120-room castle located on Heart Island with a love story behind it’s construction is a site you’ll want to spend hours at. Another great castle to visit is the Singer Castle which offers tours and even a royal sweet to stay in.

The Waters
Located on the Great Lake of Ontario and at the head of the St. Lawrence River, the 1,000 Islands offer some of the best waters and views in New York. With numerous tour boats offering tours varying in length, you can easily find one that fits your style. From large dinner cruises to small water-taxis, you’ll be able to see dozens of islands, staggering mansions and castles, and remarkable wildlife all accompanied with the historical tales behind them. Even if you choose not to take a tour, the waters are still something of amazement. The beautiful sunsets and unreal backdrops offer picturesque views that never get old.
Outdoor Recreation
If you love the outdoors then you’ll love the 1,000 Islands region even more. The islands are fun to explore, but there is much more than just that to this region. With roads winding across the shoreline, cyclists and motorcyclists combined have taken advantage of the open roads. Full of parks and nature preserves, there are plentiful trails for hikers and cross-country skiers. The outdoors is something to boast about here. Once you get a taste, you’ll be wanting more.
