The 6 million acre Adirondack Park is your ideal canvas for outdoor adventure. Bring your family, friends, and children on a variety of experiences including hiking, fishing, biking, boating, camping, and more.
To help you plan your trip some of the small towns we recommend visiting are: Lake George, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, and Old Forge. Each of these Upstate New York summer vacations will give you a memorable experience you won’t soon forget! Start planning your trip now!
Finger Lakes
Maybe you’re looking for a more relaxing getaway. Try checking out the Finger Lakes! You can sample some of New York’s finest wines from over 200 different wineries in the region! Better yet many of these are very close to each other so traveling is minimal and wine tours are very popular.
If you’re looking for the hotspots then make sure you visit Keuka Lake, Seneca Lake, and Cayuga Lake. We promise you’ll love a wine tasting amongst the scenic rolling hills that descend upon the lakes. When you’re all set to call it a day head back Watkins Glen to rest up for the next day. You can even check out the Watkins Glen State Park. The park will take you down a beautiful gorge with many picturesque views!
Hudson Valley
This 10 county region is rich in history, natural beauty, culture and also offers a flourishing food and farmer’s market scene. This region has a unique make up of quiet small towns as well as bustling cities, all nestled into the valley formed by the Hudson River. Looking for a historic old town? Hudson and Athens are your places. Want a more busy city experience? Then Rockland and Westchester Counties have you covered.
Regardless of your lifestyle, the Hudson Valley will expose you to great food, beverages, and plenty of parks, museums and attractions. This includes life performances, Civil War reenactments, food and beverage festivals, as well as recreational activities. Take the trip down the river to see why the Hudson Valley is one of our favorite Upstate New York summer vacations.
1,000 Islands
If you enjoyed our episode Lake Life then you will love the 1,000 Islands too! It’s not hard to figure out where the St. Lawrence Seaway got this nickname. Spend a weekend camping on Wellesley Island and don’t forget to take the boat out! You will be amazed at the miles and miles of islands, amazing architecture of homes, and of course Boldt Castle!
Last but not least be sure to check out (or stay at) Alexandria Bay! This vibrant community is the heart of the 1,000 Islands where you can enjoy a multitude of shops, restaurants, and bars. Those who love architecture will find plenty of it here! Many of the historic waterfront homes are grandeur in design and size. Words don’t do it justice. You have to see for your self.
