As the temperature drops and summer comes to close, it’s time to look forward to all that fall has to offer. Upstate New York is notorious for having some of the most scenic landscapes as the reds, oranges, and yellows cover the mountains and hills. Better yet, there are numerous events that take advantage of the fall season and let you truly enjoy the great outdoors. Below we have listed 5 fall events you don’t want to miss this year!
Harvest Festival
Sharon Springs, NY | September 15-16
The first of our fall events to check out welcomes the changing weather. While Sharon Spring’s Spring Garden Party kicks off the growing season, the Harvest Festival celebrates the coming harvest. The little village honors the season with live music, cooking presentations, craft panels, almost 100 vendors, and a kids creative garden. However, the most popular event is the Harvest Dinner at the American Hotel. This features a 4 course dinner paired with local drinks. For such a small town, the annual Harvest Festival certainly knows how to bring in a large crowd.
AppleUmpkin Festival
Wyoming, NY | September 29-30
Some of the most common symbols of fall are apples and pumpkins, both of which are celebrated in the small town of Wyoming, NY. The AppleUmpkin Festival brings people together to view colorful houses decorated for a plentiful fall harvest. An abundance of sounds and smells fill the streets as vendors offer plenty of craft foods and goods. Concluding the event is the festival’s apple-umpkin bake-off with its mouth-watering pies. Trust us, you want to stick around for this one.
Tractor Fest
Cooperstown, NY | October 6-7
Featuring more than 60 tractors, Tractor Fest at the Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown commemorates the hard work that farmers do in order to deliver food to our tables. This gives attendees are great chance to see how their food starts at the farm and ends up on their table. You can even check out classic tractors cull wheat, a tractor parade, and an assortment of children’s activities. Above all, don’t forget to visit the museum to learn about the history and culture of New York State.
Corn Maze at Ellm’s Family Farm
Ballston Spa, NY | Weekends
Nothing brings along more memories of fall than the smell of fresh cider donuts. Cider donuts are just one of the many treats available at Ellm’s Family Farm throughout the season. What better occasion to treat yourself and your family than the completion of a classic corn maze. If corn mazes aren’t your thing, Ellm’s maze offers a myriad of options for the whole family. Ellm’s offers the whole package for a fun family adventure.
